Working with AidIQ

AidIQ was founded in 2009 to develop technology solutions for organisations involved in disaster relief and international development. We have a passion for using technology to empower these organisations to better help people affected by disasters and poverty. AidIQ supports the Sahana Eden Open Source Disaster Management Software and uses it to develop solutions for the organisations we work with. We have worked with the Asia Disaster Preparedness Center, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, City of Los Angeles Emergency Management and IBM. Software Developer

If you are looking for a way to put your technical skills to use to really make a difference this is the role for you. We’re looking for another software developer to join our team to implement new functionality in Sahana Eden. As AidIQ grows there may be the opportunity to lead your own projects and potential for international travel.

Required Skills:

  • Python
  • Website application development using HTML and CSS
  • Java Script

Desired Skills:

  • Contributing to an open source software project
  • Linux System Administration
  • Graphic and Web Design
  • SQL
  • JQuery

This role will involve working with government agencies and non-government organisations, developing solutions to meet their requirements, resolving reported tickets and contributing to an open source project, so candidates with experience in these areas is desired.

We will be considering candidates with different levels of experience from fresh graduate to mid-career to find the right person for this role and we will support them in their continued professional development. AidIQ works on international projects and has a distributed global team, so this role can be fulfilled virtually.

Software Developer Intern (part-time)

If you are a Computer Science or Software Engineering student in Wellington, New Zealand with a desire to work on projects that make a difference while learning new skills then this is the role for you. This role will involved implementing new functionality and resolving bugs in Sahana Eden. This will require programming in Python and JavaScript, so you will either have experience in these or developing web applications in other languages and are comfortable learning new technologies.

We’ll be looking for someone who can work 4-8 hours a week however can be flexible especially around your academic priorities. During holiday periods we would hope that you will be able to work full time.

Project Administrator (part-time)

If you’re based in in Wellington, New Zealand, technology savvy and interested in getting experience in the disaster relief and international development sectors then this is the role for you. AidIQ is looking for someone to join the team to support projects developing software solutions for organisations in these sectors. You’ll need to have strong computer skills, especially in Excel and using web applications. Some of the tasks you’ll be required to do include:

  • Maintaining project logs
  • Re-formatting and cleaning humanitarian data
  • Testing software being developed by AidIQ
  • Preparing promotional material
  • Administrative tasks

We’ll be looking for someone who can work 4-8 hours a week however can be flexible with the time. This role would suit a student in International Relations, International Development, Information Systems, Business, Engineering or Computer Science.
